Who I am
First and foremost I am a fine artist with a BFA in painting and a passion for painted illusion. I have spent the past 28 years refining my design sense, keeping up with the latest artistic trends and techniques, all the while taking an environmentally conscious approach to my work.
My referral-based business has included residential and commercial commissions in the metropolitan area, including Connecticut, Long Island, the Hamptons, and Manhattan. I have a talent for bringing the beauty of nature indoors, particularly Long Island's unique landscape, and am willing to tackle any challenge. One of my favorites was adorning a circular space in a Brooklyn brownstone to give the residents a peaceful, serene feeling in an urban environment. As a result I have created some beautiful and unusual environments. Most recently, I collaborated with local restaurant owners to bring the spirit of the ocean into their space, by painting unique sea creatures on walls and ceilings. In keeping with the historic architecture, I further embellished the rooms using my knowledge of finishes on the walls, doors, circular panels, and more private areas.
I have continued to hone my skills by attending classes at The Finishing School and working with accomplished French muralists. Years of experience and training have enabled me to refine my knowledge of many techniques that include, but are not limited to, fresco finishes, woodgraining, aging, distressing, grisaille, trompe l'oeil, and luster stone. As an artist with a distinctive vision, I have designed and executed murals and embellished walls, and have painted decorative panels, folding screens, furniture, and wooden floors to give the illusion of marquetry or area rugs, applying these many different finishes.
Most recently, I have collaborated with decorative painter Philip Jordan on a variety of projects that have broadened my range and allowed me to expand my knowledge and add even more design possibilities to my extensive catalog. Together, we have conceived and created rooms for several Mansions & Millionaires Designers’ Showcases on Long Island's Gold Coast.
Long Island's tranquil harbors and beaches, shoreline vistas, and hidden coves continue to inspire me, and my landscape work is one way of celebrating the variety that surrounds us. It is my hope that you will take home a piece of my work and enjoy it for many years to come. My view and my vision come not only from the land but also from the sea, where I cruise the waterways seeking and finding new inspiration.
